The Grey Goose Announces New Owners

The Grey Goose Restaurant announces a change in ownership. Downtown Hampton residents Dana and Phillip Epstein have recently purchased the popular Downtown Hampton restaurant.

Born and raised in Hampton, Dana Clark Epstein has had a 25- year love affair with The Grey Goose and is so thrilled to become the new owner of the Downtown Hampton restaurant! Dana’s family owned R.F. Slaughter Lumber Company, another old Hampton business so you are in good hands! Dana is a graduate of Kecoughtan High School and Johnson and Wales University with a degree in Culinary Arts. After completing a culinary internship in Amsterdam, Dana worked at Kingsmill Resort and the Hospitality House in Williamsburg. Serving as Executive Chef with The Compass Group for the last three years, Dana worked at Bank of America and Smithfield Foods in executive dining facilities. Dana met her husband Phillip through two “shared” employees where he courted her with many baked goods for over one year before meeting face to face.

Phillip Epstein was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia . He attended Norfolk Catholic and graduated from Maury High School. Phillip is also a graduated of Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island with a culinary degree in baking and pastry. You can already see why Dana fell for Phillip. Phillip has baked in some of the finest kitchens- The Trellis, The Homestead, Kingsmill Resort, Tides Inn, Caneel Bay in St. John and lastly as the head baker for Colonial Williamsburg. Phillip went on to pursue a degree in Massage Therapy and now also works at Salters Creek Retreat, specializing in therapeutic and deep tissue massage. The Epstein’s proudly live in the historic Pasture Point neighborhood and are excited to live and work in such a fantastic area!

Moving forward the Epstein’s are looking to make some enhancements to The Grey Goose’s offerings such as breakfast, lunch delivery to select office buildings, bakery items for purchase. This should take place around January of 2008. The Epstein’s will also continue the “Dinnertainment” concept that was started by the Jones family, offering themed dinner theatre. The first production will be a Holiday Show on December 1st and 8th with two shows per night 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Shabby Chic to Celebrate 9 Years in Downtown Hampton

The Downtown Hampton Development Partnership is pleased to announce the 9th Anniversary of Shabby Chic in Downtown Hampton Monday, December 10, 2007.

Shabby Chic is a charming shop featuring vintage furniture, decorative arts, dried flowers and architectural elements. Owner, Regina Mays, brings unusual finds together for a unique mix of old and new. Regina also creates one-of-a-kind pieces including mermaids, wooden signs, and lampshades. Regina Mays not only opened Shabby Chic nine years ago, she also moved into an 1800’s cottage in the historic Pasture Point Neighborhood in Downtown Hampton. “I love it here. There is a real sense of community. Downtown Hampton is the kind of place where you never meet a stranger.”

In celebration of her 9th Anniversary, Shabby Chic will host an Open House Saturday, December 15, 2007 from 11am-5pm. It’s a great time to do some holiday shopping. Come join the celebration and register to win great door prizes.

19th Annual Downtown Hampton Lighted Boat Parade

Don’t miss the 19th Annual Downtown Hampton Lighted Boat Parade Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 7:15pm on the beautiful Downtown Hampton waterfront (behind the Cousteau Society).

Enjoy the nautical parade of power and sailboats decorated with colorful lights while sipping on hot cocoa or cider provided by the First United Methodist Church Hampton Youth Group. This year, over 30 boats will participate in the parade up the Hampton River.
