Brown Chicken Brown Cow - 13 E Queens Way

The singer/songwriter was born and raised in the anthracite coal region of Northeast Pennsylvania. The small towns of the once vibrant valley nestled in Pennsylvania’s slice of the Appalachian mountains was a compelling backdrop for the young artist’s narrative and observational style.  Defiant in youth but an old soul at heart, the artist found his only sense of comfort in performing.  Playing blues and Folk with his father quickly evolved into writing, composition and story-telling.

“I approached my father as a youngster and asked him to teach me a song on guitar. He taught me G, C and D and told me he would show me a Bob Dylan song once I come up with my own chord progression first. In hindsight, I guess my first guitar lesson was also my first experience in writing music.”
-Jacob Vanko

Touching on themes of blue-collar life, addiction, social injustice and family from first-hand experiences brings a distinct intimacy to the songs all audiences can relate to and appreciate.

A collective of high level musicians who have done it all from being on the road to being in the studio.  All the band members have been educated, led their own musical outfits and teach. These mature musicians know what to add, when to add it and when to pull back creating a foundation for creativity and improvisation.

Rich Mossman is a highly regarded producer and jazz drummer in the region and has been working with Jacob the longest. Constantly improving on the live show and building a sonically superior record, he hand-picked knowledgeable musicians that were able to understand his musical vision and execute it with authority.

Jordan Ponzi is an experienced upright bass player who not only adds a unique sound and cool factor to the band, but is also responsible for helping to create the giant vocal texture that has become a staple of the band’s overall sound.

Tony Mata is a well known Jazz player in Hampton Roads and rounds out the line up on electric guitar.  If you listen closely, you’ll hear lush and tasteful guitar parts interwoven through the music and adding a layer of texture that is all too rare in popular music today.
