Hampton's newest doughnut shop opened its doors Friday.

Glazed Doughnuts, at 24 Wine Street, sold out of doughnuts just before 11 a.m., with the store's namesake, as well as apple fritters, among the top sellers, said co-owner Brandy Fertitta.

The shop is expected to reopen at 4 p.m. and sell during the city's Lighted Boat Parade Friday night, Holly Days parade Saturday, as well as throughout the weekend.

"It was really busy," Fertitta said. "It was more than we expected, which is nice."

The shop offers a variety of doughnuts, bagels, pastries and coffee from Rogue Elephant Coffee Roasting Company in Hampton, Fertitta said.

While the shop's soft opening is Friday, its grand opening will take place from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 19. Mayor George Wallace will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m.
