Experience Living History with Blackbeard's Crew

The Golden Age of Piracy played a big role in Hampton history, and now you can experience it first-hand with none other than Blackbeard's Crew. The living history troupe will be dockside at Downtown Hampton on September 4th and 5th for live reenactments of pirate life during the late 1600s and early 1700s.

Who Is Blackbeard's Crew?

Blackbeard's crew was founded in 2000 and features authentic interpretations of what life was like aboard a pirate ship in the 18th century. Featuring realistic costumes and role-play, the crew's mission is to entertain and educate the public on the impact of piracy on local seaports and peoples of long ago. Learn more about authentic weapons, dress, speech, lifestyles, tools, and chain of command aboard a 1700s pirate vessel and how piracy impacted the merchants and villagers of Old Hampton.

Authentic Historic Entertainment

Blackbeard's Crew travels aboard the Serenity and offers the Scalawag School for Aspiring Pirates, where children ages 5 through 10 learn what it takes to be successful at pillaging and plundering. Youngsters learn real pirate lingo and sea shanties as they practice their skills with the cutlass and musket. It's a safe, seaworthy time to be had by all, and an unforgettable lesson in history that can't be gleaned from any textbook.

Enjoy a Day Out with Blackbeard's Crew

Mayhem, chaos, and blustering abound on the docks with Blackbeard's Crew. Storytelling, pirate recipes, cooking, singing, and role-play all contribute to the authenticity. Learn about history through the costumes and characters that lived it when you attend the dockside performance of Blackbeard's Crew at Downtown Hampton in September.

For more information, visit the website of Blackbeard's Crew to see what all the bluster is about. Then bring the kids and family out to a life-history performance they'll always remember. History can't be forgotten when it's experienced live. Come see what make Blackbeard's Crew such a popular attraction.
